In his article, Dr. Cairns discussed the use of dental photography as a tool to help patients gain a better understanding of their condition. He also described three simple actions every dentist can take in utilizing photography to enhance their practice.

The following three steps are reviewed in greater detail in the article:

  1. Become a tour guide
  2. Choose the right equipment
  3. Brush up on photography skills

Dr. Cairns writes, “Photography alone can’t turn a dentist with below-average case acceptance into a superstar. However, it does take away the ambiguity of the dental problem for patients.” Clear photographs and an explanation from a well-trained dentist can help patients obtain an accurate understanding of their condition.
