Pacific Dental Services teams up with the American Red Cross

Give Life - American Red CrossOn Monday, May 12th , 2008 Pacific Dental Services will host their first annual American Red Cross blood drive at the PDS headquarters in Irvine. According to the Red Cross, the summer is traditionally a time when blood supplies drop to critical lows. In response to this need, PDS hopes to make a difference with this blood drive and Giving the Gift of Life!

The PDS mission statement ends with the words “We Serve.” This desire to serve has been a part of the company mission and culture since its inception. Throughout the year, numerous opportunities are created for employees to serve their communities locally and globally in association with community agencies and charitable organizations.

“We’ve previously partnered with the American Red Cross and had great success with various donation campaigns, but this is the first time our PDS family has had the opportunity to physically give back through the Red Cross” explained Matt Hall, Director of Marketing. “With resounding response from our team members, the blood donor list filled up immediately. We’ve been blessed with so much and we’re excited to give back by ‘Giving the Gift of Life’.”

The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and counsels victims of disasters, provides nearly half of the nation’s blood supply, teaches lifesaving skills, and supports military members and their families. The American Red Cross is a charity, not a government agency, and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its humanitarian mission.

Any healthy person age 17 or older (in some states, age 16 with written parental consent) and weighing at least 110 pounds may be eligible to donate blood. All eligible donors are asked to schedule an appointment to donate blood by calling 1.800.GIVE.LIFE (1.800.448.3543) or by visiting givelife.org.
